The DEL is back at the Spengler Cup Davos. With the German top club Straubing Tigers, a team from Germany's highest ice hockey league will play at the traditional tournament for the first time since 2018.

The Straubing Tigers first appeared on the big hockey stage in 2006, when they promoted from the second tier to the DEL for the first time in club history. The club from the 47,000-inhabitant Straubing in Lower Bavaria immediately established itself in the highest German ice hockey league and first reached the playoffs in 2012. The club finished in the top four of the DEL in each of the past four years – in its first participation in 2022 the Tigers reached the round of 16 of the Champions Hockey League. This season, the team from Straubing already secured a 2024 playoff spot on February 5.
The “Eisstadion am Pulverturm” is its home and cult location at the same time. It not only has a moving history but also a notorious atmosphere. “It is cold, loud, genuine - a place of unfiltered emotion”, is how Straubing’s players describe their stadium. The Tigers fans, who in the DEL have a reputation of being especially loyal and loud, will definitely bring these emotions with them to Davos.
