U.S. COLLEGIATE SELECTS

For the first time in the more than 100-year history of the Spengler Cup, a team of selected college hockey players from the NCAA will take part. The U.S. Collegiate Selects bring together some of the best and most promising young talents from the American college hockey system.

NCAA Division I represents the highest level of U.S. college hockey, featuring 64 teams across six conferences. It is considered the most important talent pool for the NHL – around 85 percent of American NHL players come through the NCAA. Stars such as Cale Makar, Jack Eichel, and Connor Hellebuyck followed this path to professional hockey. College players are typically older and more experienced than traditional students, often joining university teams after several years in junior leagues and competing up to the age of 24 or 25. The rosters are also internationally diverse, featuring players from the USA, Canada, Sweden, Finland, Germany, Switzerland, and Czechia.

With the U.S. Collegiate Selects, an NCAA all-star team will make its debut in Davos in 2025 – young, talented, and unlike anything ever seen before in Europe.
