HC DAVOS

HC Davos is not only one of the most renowned ice hockey clubs in Switzerland, but also the long-time host of the Spengler Cup. Founded in 1921, the traditional club has claimed 31 Swiss championship titles and 16 Spengler Cup victories, sharing the tournament record with Team Canada.

At the most recent Spengler Cup, HCD saw its hopes of defending the title end in a spectacular semifinal against eventual champion Fribourg-Gottéron. Nevertheless, the team once again demonstrated that it is strong enough to compete for the trophy every year.

In the National League, Switzerland’s top division, Davos reached the playoff semifinals last season, where the Grisons side was eliminated by eventual champion ZSC Lions. Under head coach Josh Holden, who has led the team since 2023, HCD continues to make steady progress – from the Spengler Cup triumph in 2023 to the playoff quarterfinals in 2024 and now the semifinals in 2025 in the Swiss National League.

At the 97th Spengler Cup, the hosts will once again have the opportunity to become the sole record holder of the world’s oldest club tournament.
