Spengler Cup 2026 without Team Canada
1.5.2026, 17:00

Team Canada will not participate in the 98th Spengler Cup. Within the available time, no agreement could be reached with Hockey Canada on an extension of the collaboration. Following the expiration of the previous long-term contract, both parties intended to comprehensively take into account the changed sporting and economic framework conditions.
As the discussions took more time than originally expected and, in parallel, other potential participants required timely commitments for organizational reasons, the Organizing Committee of the Spengler Cup Davos, in coordination with Hockey Canada, decided to hold the 2026 tournament without Team Canada.
Team Canada has been an integral part of the tournament since 1984 and enjoys great popularity among fans. Despite this year’s absence, both sides remain in dialogue - with the aim of enabling a return in the future.
The following teams have already been confirmed for participation in the 98th Spengler Cup Davos: U.S. Collegiate Selects, Frölunda HC, SCL Tigers, as well as host and defending champion HC Davos. The remaining two participants will be announced as soon as the corresponding contracts have been signed.
The pre-sale for single game tickets will begin on Tuesday, September 8, 2026, 10 am. Tournament passes can be ordered from mid-July 2026.. Packages with VIP-Hospitality are already available today via the official Spengler Cup website.
