Excitement is building for the 98th Spengler Cup as the groups have been drawn and the schedule for the traditional tournament, taking place from 26 to 31 December 2026, has been finalized. With defending champions HC Davos, first-time participants SCL Tigers, reigning Champions Hockey League winners Frölunda HC, and top teams from Germany, Finland, and the United States, hockey fans can look forward to another outstanding tournament in Davos.
Group Torriani features SCL Tigers, Adler Mannheim, and Ilves Tampere, while Group Cattini consists of hosts and defending champions HC Davos, Frölunda HC, and the U.S. Collegiate Selects.
A vibrant opening Day and exciting matchups
The 98th Spengler Cup will get underway on 26 December at 3:10 PM with a matchup between SCL Tigers and Adler Mannheim. Both clubs are known for their passionate fan bases, promising a fantastic atmosphere in the Davos ice stadium right from the opening face-off. The evening game at 8:15 PM offers another highlight, as reigning Champions Hockey League winners Frölunda HC take on last year's Spengler Cup finalists, the U.S. Collegiate Selects. On the second day of the tournament, the remaining two teams will make their first appearances. Ilves Tampere enters the competition in the afternoon, while defending champions HC Davos will take to the ice in front of their home crowd in the evening.
A proven format that delivers excitement
Since 2010, the Spengler Cup has been contested by six teams divided into two groups of three. Group stage games will be played daily from 26 December at 3:10 PM and 8:15 PM, before the tournament enters its decisive stage on 29 December. The two group winners advance directly to the semifinals. The remaining four teams compete in the Pre-Semifinals for the last two semifinal spots. The winners of those games will join the group winners in the semifinals. The championship game of the 98th Spengler Cup will take place on 31 December 2026 at 12:10 PM, when the two finalists battle for one of the most prestigious trophies in international club hockey.
The official schedule is now available on the tournament website. Advance sales for single-game tickets will start on 8 September 2026 at 10:00 a.m. Season tickets for all eleven games can be ordered from mid-July. VIP hospitality packages are already available for booking via the official Spengler Cup website.
