Ilves Tampere returns to Davos after more than 50 years
11.5.2026, 13:00

The line-up for the 98th Spengler Cup Davos is complete: Ilves Tampere will represent Finland at the 2026 edition of the traditional tournament. The club from Tampere has been among the top teams in Finnish ice hockey for several years and recently impressed with strong performances both domestically and internationally. Ilves will participate in Davos for only the second time after its first appearance in 1972.
The club from Tampere looks back on a long and successful history. With a total of 16 Finnish championship titles, Ilves is one of the country’s most historic and respected hockey organizations – even though its last championship dates back more than four decades.
In recent years, the team has consistently been a playoff contender, reaching several semi-finals and quarter-finals. During the most recent Champions Hockey League campaign, Ilves remained unbeaten until the quarter-finals, where its impressive European run was eventually stopped by Luleå HF.
Since December 2021, Ilves has played its home games at the state-of-the-art Nokia Arena, which the club shares with local rival Tappara.
For Ilves, this will not be the first trip to Davos: the Finnish side already competed in the tournament in 1972, finishing in third place. Now, more than 50 years later, the club returns to the big stage in the Swiss Alps.
With Ilves Tampere, Adler Mannheim, the U.S. Collegiate Selects, Frölunda HC, the SCL Tigers, and defending champions HC Davos, the line-up for the 98th Spengler Cup Davos is now complete. The official game schedule will be released on June 4, 2026.
Advance sales for single-game tickets will start on 8th September 2026 at 10:00 a.m. Season tickets for all eleven games can be ordered from mid-July. VIP hospitality packages are already available for booking via the official Spengler Cup website.
