Team Canada, HC Sparta Prague, HC Ambri-Piotta, Örebro HK, IFK Helsinki, and host HC Davos will be competing for the traditional Spengler Cup trophy this Boxing Week.

It is with great pleasure that the Spengler Cup organizing committee can announce the teams participating at the 94th Spengler Cup. In HC Sparta Prague and HC Ambri-Piotta two teams, that should have participated in 2020 and 2021 when the tournaments were canceled due to the pandemic, will be finally travelling to Davos. The two-time Spengler Cup champion from the Czech capital was just a few days ago playing in the playoff final of the Czech Extraliga, narrowly missing the ninth title in club history after falling to Trinec in 6 games. With a spectacular pre-playoff berth at the end of the past season, Ambri- Piotta not only captivated its on fanatical followers. Although the Biancoblù then missed qualifying for the playoffs, falling to Lausanne in the decisive game 3, they showed once again what they are capable of achieving with passion and willingness.

IFK Helsinki from Finland joins the group of participants. The seven-time champion finished last year’s Liiga regular season in fifth place and were then eliminated in game 7 of their playoff quarterfinal matchup. In the group stage of the Champions Hockey League the team from the capital showed their class by defeating - amongst others - the ZSC Lions in the Hallenstadion in a dominant manner. After 1994, 1995, and 2004 this will be the Finns’ fourth appearance at the Spengler Cup.
Swedish representative Örebro HK will celebrate its premier at the traditional tournament. The “Hockeyklubb”, founded in 1990, has been playing in the highest Swedish league (SHL) since the 2013/2014 season and finished the past championship in the playoff quarterfinal, where they fell to finalist Luleå.

Together with defending champion and record title holder Team Canada and host HC Davos, the teams mentioned above form a promising group of participants in 2022. With the Czech Republic, Finland, Sweden, Switzerland, and Canada some of the heavy- weight hockey nations are represented at the 94th Spengler Cup. This high-calibre cast definitely promises pure excitement when the first puck drop in the Eisstadion Davos occurs on December 26, 2022.

Here you will find the match schedule for the 94th Spengler Cup Davos 2022. Tickets will be available as of May 24, 2022 online.
