Finnish Prominence – IFK Helsinki to compete at the 97th Spengler Cup

Another big name will enrich the lineup of the 97th Spengler Cup: IFK Helsinki is set to travel to Davos for the fifth time. The storied club from Finland’s Liiga previously participated in 1994, 1995, 2004 and 2022 – now returning to the world’s oldest club tournament with an exciting mix of experience and youth.
The seven-time Finnish champion is one of Europe’s most prestigious hockey clubs. In recent years, IFK has remained consistently competitive, reaching the playoffs for over a decade straight. In the 2024/25 season, Helsinki finished a strong fourth in the regular season but was eliminated in the quarterfinals by finalists SaiPa.
Once again, the roster includes numerous homegrown talents – seven players born in 2004 or later are aiming to follow in the footsteps of NHL stars like Miro Heiskanen and Anton Lundell.
Behind the bench stands a legendary name: Olli Jokinen. The former NHL forward and IFK championship player brings international coaching experience and has set ambitious goals for the team – including at the Spengler Cup.
With IFK Helsinki, Sparta Prague, Fribourg-Gottéron, HC Davos, and Team Canada, five of the six participants for the 97th Spengler Cup are now confirmed. Online ticket sales start on 9 September 2025. Tournament passes can already be reserved via the online form on the official website.
