HCD puts crown on anniversary year

On New Year’s Eve, HC Davos crowned the Spengler Cup’s 100th anniversary with a 5-3 win over Dynamo Pardubice in the final. The game was decided by three goals within 207 seconds from the 39th to the 43rd minute of play. The tournament title was the first for HCD since 2011 and its 16th overall.

On Sunday afternoon there will be a premiere for the Spengler Cup’s 100 th anniversary in Davos: For the first time in the tournament’s long history, HCD and the Czech championship leading Dynamo Pardubice will face off in the final at 12.10pm.

In dramatic fashion, Dynamo Pardubice qualified for today’s Spengler Cup final in Davos against HCD. The Czechs trailed Team Canada 3-1 until 57 th minute of play. They then made an incredible comeback with 3 goals within 197 seconds.

In a wild game at the Spengler Cup against Frolunda Gothenburg on Saturday afternoon, HC Davos qualified for tomorrow’s final. Henrik Haapala scored the game-winner 51 seconds into overtime.

Tickets to the final await

The two finalists of the 95 th Spengler Cup will be determined on Saturday. HCD plays Frolunda Gothenburg at 3.10pm and Dynamo Pardubice faces off against Team Canada at 8.15 pm. Beforehand, for the first time ever, there will be a women’s championship matchup at the Spengler Cup between Ambri-Piotta and HCD at 11am.

Canada moved into the Spengler Cup semifinals with a decisive 6-3 win over KalPa Kuopio on Friday evening. There the Canadians will battle Dynamo Pardubice for a final berth at 8.15pm.

The Spengler Cup opens its Hall of Fame

A museum on the Spengler Cup’s 100-year history has been established in the spectator corridor of Eisstadion Davos. Next to it the Spengler Cup Hall of Fame has been created. On Friday, the first players and officials were ceremoniously inducted.
