Night of the Canadian Hunter

Canada rejoice: the brilliant Maple Leafs
The hotly-contested game between Davos and Team Canada ended successfully for the Maple Leaf team with a clear 6:2 victory. The Canadians were given invaluable help by double-goal scorer Mark Bell, borrowed from the Kloten Flyers. After giving up so many goals, HC Davos will now have to go back to their defensive drawing board...
The four goal deficit too much to shrug-off
With their performance tonight, the HC Davos now fears for their chances of reaching the Spengler Cup Finals. A victory against Team Canada would have practically guaranteed a Davos appearance in the finals. However, the team instead was subjected to a 2:6 drubbing.
After just 18 minutes, the Canadians lead 2:0, and by minute 34 they had increased the lead to 5:1. Mark Bell (Kloten Flyers) snagged two goals (2:0 and 3:0), managing to score his second goal even though his side was down a man. For Davos, Nick Naumenko (1:4) and Oliver Setzinger (2:5) succeeded in scoring two face-saving goals for the hosts.
HC Davos: Anything is still possible
After three days of play, Team Canada leads the results table with 4 points, followed by Davos also with four points, and then Dynamo Minsk, Mannheim Eagles and Karlovy Vary following from behind with 2 points a piece. The still winless Czechs are the only team to have thus far been completely eliminated from a chance to play in the Finals on New Year's Eve. HC Davos has positioned itself admirably though it will take more than a simple win against the Mannheim Eagles to assure they will be present in the Finals.
HC Davos will only take to the ice again on Wednesday evening. On Tuesday the fans can look forward to the show-downs between the Mannheim Eagles and Team Canada (3:00 pm) as well as Karlovy Vary and Dynamo Minsk (8:15pm).
