Adler Mannheim keeps their chances alive

Spenglercup HC Pardubice Moeller - Adler Mannheim, Adler erlegen Pardubice
The Germans of Adler Mannheim played their 3rd match at the Spengler Cup against HC Möller Pardubice. Both teams still had chances to qualify for the final on Monday but they needed a victory tonight. For the Czechs this was the 4th match in four days and maybe this fact would have some influence on their performance.
But in the first third there were no signs of tiredness in the Czech-side. They started very good and had already some ideal chances in the starting minutes. After 14 minute Cetkovsky transformed the Czech domination to a goal. Adler Mannheim was very weak in this first 20 minutes and the highlight was as defender Hackert tried to pass the puck back to his keeper Hauser, Czech-player Klejna took this present and scored the second goal just seconds before the whistle. The conclusion after this first 20 minutes was that just one team was on the ice, HC Möller Pardubice.
In the second period things changed completely. The domination of Pardubice was gone and Mannheim started to play ice-hockey. After 6 minutes in the second third Shantz could shorten the advantage of Pardubice and just 2 minutes later Schlager could even level the result. What was wrong with Pardubice in this third? They had no
chances in this second period - except to one and this was a good one. With one player less on the ice Rolinek could score the leading goal for the Czechs. But Mannheim wasn't nervous about this lead, with patience they just waited for their chances. This chance came just 3 minutes after the leading goal of Pardubice, once again Adler Mannheim levelled the result.
The last period was different to the 1st two periods. Pardubice was performing better than in the second third but also Mannheim was continuing in the same pace. In the 45th minute Trepanier scored the first power-play goal for the Germans in this tournament and this goal should be also the decision. Pardubice was trying with all their strength to level this result, but they didn't succeed. At the end Adler Mannheim made out of a 0:2 a 4:3 victory and this result keeps their chances alive for the final on Monday.
