Team Canada beats host HC Davos
Davos shot 4 goals less than team canada.

The Spengler Cup host HC Davos played today their second match and this could already be a decisive one for Davos. After their first round defeat over Adler Mannheim they needed a good result to keep their chances to defend their title at this year's Spengler Cup. But the task wasn't so easy against such a top-team like Team Canada.

Team Canada started very good in this match and the performance wasn't comparable to yesterday's match. From the first minute they put Davos under pressure and after 9 minutes Canada opened the score. Skiklenka scored his first goal in the tournament. But Davos wasn't shocked about this result, they tried to level the result and played better than they did yesterday. Just 5 minutes after the leading goal of Team Canada Mike Maneluk found the right answer and levelled the result. The first period finished with the result of 1:1.

In the second third Davos started better and scored the leading goal in the 25th minute. But just 3 minutes later the result was levelled again, Tremblay scored for the Canadians. And another 3 minutes later Team Canada took once again the lead in this match. All this goals in the second third were scored during a powerplay-situation. There were still to play 20 minutes for the final decision. Davos needed to level the result to get a chance for an over-time or even for a victory.

The last period started with a quick goal of Team Canada. It seems that Davos-players weren't on the ice yet. Just after 40 seconds McTavish scored the 4th goal for his team and this was already a comfortable lead for Canada. Davos tried to come back in this match but they weren't as efficient as they were before, especially in the powerplays. Davos was attacking and Team Canada was scoring. In the last 3 minutes the Canadians scored another two goals and made it 6:2. This result was a bit too high because Davos wasn't as weak as the result shows.
