German champion Adler Mannheim won the opening-match of this year's Spengler Cup 2007 against HC Davos 3:2. The team of new signed coach Dave King showed a very good performance especially in the defence.

Mannheim scored already in the first third twice and was obviously the better team in the first 20minutes. In the second third Swiss champion Davos performed better and had also some serious chances. In the 30th minute Daigle made it 2:1 and the last third had to bring the decision in this match. The last 20 minutes were very exciting; first Mannheim scored their 3rd goal today and than Davos reacted very good and made it 3:2.

In the last minutes of this opening-match German goal-keeper Hauser was under
enormous pressure and he had to intervene in several cases. But at the end he took his part in this victory and gave his team the first joy of this tournament.
