SKA St Petersburg Is Flexing Its Muscle in Davos
SKA showed its qualities in the first-time ever KHL league game in Western Europe last night. The favourites from Petersburg made short work of Spartak Moscow in Davos and won 5:1 in front of 4,600 spectators.
After a modest first period, SKA (currently ranked third in the KHL's West Conference) set aside caution: Martensson, one of three Swedish players on St. Petersburg's team, and former world champion Sushinski made all the difference within just four minutes.
The spectators in the Vaillant Arena weren't especially loud; however, they were rather fascinated with the Russians' show. SKA St Petersburg played hockey of the highest international level again and again. Compared to everyday Swiss national league hockey, the Russians especially persuaded the audience with their patient and precise playmaking. (Si, Translated by Sabine Schweizer)
