The top Czech team completes the starting line-up for the 2010 Spengler Cup.
All six teams for the premiere of the "new" Spengler Cup have been announced: SKA St. Petersburg, Spartak Moscow, Geneva-Servette, Team Canada, Sparta Prague and the host team Davos provide an extremely attractive field for this year's tournament in the week between Christmas and the New Year.
HC Sparta Prague, for its part 8-time national champions (four times of Czechoslovakia and four times of the Czech Republic), is not only one of the Czech Republic's most successful teams. It also represents the country of the reigning world champions in the Spengler Cup. One of the most dazzling players is team captain David Vyborny, who played seven seasons for the Columbus Blue Jackets in the NHL between 2000 and 2008.
Sparta Prague won the Spengler Cup in 1962 and 1963 and made the final against the subsequent winners HC Davos in 2004. "we are delighted that we have been able to acquire another top-ranking team for our tournament, and it promises to deliver some first-class ice hockey," says OK President Fredi Pargätzi.
