Dynamo Moscow inspired by Spengler Cup victory

Jean Trudel Champions League Topscorer
The Spengler Cup victors Dynamo Moscow are currently also very successful in their domestic league, the KHL: the team has recently built an impressive 7 game winning streak. Davos and Karlovy Vary have gained some solid achievements, and Ingolstadt could also take some of the Spengler Cup momentum into the Championships.
The Dynamo Moscow also perform strongly in the Russian KHL: Following the post-Christmas Spengler Cup tournament, the top Russian team put in an impressive series of victories. They barely lost the first post-SC game against Locomotive Jaroslawl. Of the next eleven games, the Dynamo Moscow won ten, including the last seven matches in a row.
Victory against the Ak Bars Kazan and the ZSKA Moscow, both divisional competitors, was especially important. The main factor for this success which was already evident at the Spengler Cup is how well balanced the team is. Eight players have scored at least five goals each in the past seven games. Due to the winning streak, Dynamo Moscow was able to improve on their division table standings to seventh place and increase their lead on the third placed team within the Tschernyschow Division.
"Many injured players are now returning to the team. With this added strength, we would like to be in the top three for our division," explained Coach Vladimir Vujtek. Aleksej Schitnik has already been rewarded for recent successes: he has been nominated as national team captain for the coming international matches.
Ingolstadt o the upswing
Ingolstadt also enjoyed a Spengler Cup "bounce" having won three games in their series. After a small setback at the end of January, the team is once more enjoying success. Owing to a 3:2 victory in Iserlohn, the team is making an impressive run in pre-play-off competition.
Karlovy Vary topples top teams
After an initial slump after the Spengler Cup the Hockey Club Davos again captured and showed, just like Karlovy Vary, very strong performances. Both teams have placed themselves at the top half of their leagues, currently sitting in fourth place.
In the game against Lugano, Davos overcame its weakness in away games, and won for the first time in the New Year. Similarly, Karlovy Vary succeeded in defeating the top teams Sparta Prag and Litvínov within a week of each other. Coach Ruzicka is content: "After the Spengler Cup we experienced an upswing in performance. Our goal now is to make it in the playoffs as long as possible - at least to the semi-finals."
Top scorer in the Champions League
A special achievement for the Canadian team player Jean-Guy Trudel: With the ZSC Lions he won the Champions League scoring the 5:0 goal in the Final and with 13 points total, he became the top scorer of the tournament. Spengler Cup Canadian Team alumnus Domenico Pittis, also distinguished himself as the third best scorer in the Champions League.
