The week between Christmas and New Years is a huge yearly highlight not only for the players and fans of the Spengler Cup.  This year UBS will again be sending 60 children to enjoy an unforgettable experience at the Vaillant Arena in Davos. 

Since 2002 UBS in conjunction with the Spengler Cup Organizational Committee has organized an event called "Juniors train with the Spengler Cup Stars".  For the event on December 28th, 60 lucky kids win the chance to play for the first time on the ice at the stadium, a change from previous years where the even was held on an open ice-skating rink. 

This will give the kids the chance to experience the unique atmosphere in the Vaillant Arena and thereby increasing their enjoyment of the entire Spengler Cup.  The popular SF sports announcer and local Davos hero, Jann Billeter will lead the program.  Which players and coaches are to join the kids will only be announced on the morning of the event. It can be assumed that this year too numerous ice hockey pros will be headlining this special children's event. 

Many of the children participating also come from outside Switzerland.  One of the kids to join the training session comes from as far away as California where he plays in the Junior League for the Anaheim Ducks.  He will be in Davos for the holidays during the Spengler Cup and would certainly not want to miss this fantastic opportunity.  At the end of the training session, the kids will have the chance to get the autographs of their favourite star players at the Spengler Cup. 

Honoring the UBS Best Player

Aside from the training session and autograph hour which will already be a highlight for the kids, one of the lucky devils will be allowed to present the Best Player award at the afternoon game.  The award of UBS Best Player will be presented by a well known personality after each game.  Some of the celebrities will include Sarah Meier, Gian Gilli, Marc-André Giger, Karin Thürig, Edith Hunkeler, Nino Schurter and Fabian Cancellara.
